New Temporary stations - effective 19 January 2009
The current station at Avondale was moved to allow for construction and there is a new temporary station off Blockhouse Bay Rd.
All train services to Newmarket and Britomart will use Platform I which can be accessed from Trent Street.
All train services to Swanson and Waitakere will use Platform 2 which can be accessed from Tait Street.
About the future upgrades
Much of Auckland's Western line has been double tracked in the last few years. Only short sections of single track remain between Avondale and New Lynn.
Travelling on the Western Line during construction
Due to scale of the construction works to upgrade the network trains sometimes need to be replaced by buses - we encourage you to call MAXX before you travel on this line, especially if you're planning on traveling over long weekends or during holiday periods. During these times signage will tell you where you need to go to get the buses, look out for posters on the trains that will tell you about the upcoming changes.
